Description
How To Transfer Strength Training aims to share with the reader the theory and methods Ian King uses to transfer his strength training program design, exercise teaching and training supervision to success in sport as measured on the scoreboard, the time clock and the podium. These concepts and innovations are based on extensive practical experiences and confirmed through real world success at the highest level in a diverse range of sports. The book was written for the professional physical preparation coach as well as the sports coach, and is a sequel to the ‘How To Write Strength Training Programs’ and ‘How to Teach Strength Training Exercises’ books. This book will teach you that there is more to optimal transfer of strength training than whether an exercise ‘looks specific’ or has been deemed ‘functional’!

I’ve been in the strength and conditioning/personal training industry since 2000. Working at gyms and studios in California, Connecticut and New York, taking countless workshops, courses, certifications through most (all?) of the major organizations and programs, I still learned more from my three day KSI seminar in 2002 than the rest combined. He fundamentally changed how I viewed training. I remember leaving that seminar thinking ‘This was amazing. He’s way ahead of everyone else, but they’ll catch up’ It’s 2020, and I still don’t see anyone coming close. His focus on injury prevention, the importance of flexibility, speed and lines of movement, correcting and preventing imbalances, principles of training… The list of innovations goes on and on.
All of this and more is why I ordered ‘How to Transfer Strength Training’ as soon as it became available. It’s thoroughly detailed, organized in the simplest, most accessible way, and a necessity for training the competitive athlete. It’s a welcome addition to my training library, which at this point includes every book and DVD (even my KSI VHS tapes from 2002) he’s published.
