Question 1 – when i mention to look good i mean, look in shape practice what you preach good nutritiom, never ask a client to do an exercise that i cannot perform myself
The main reason why I’m doing what I’m doing, is to increase my clients’ awareness of how to build up a life that suits them naturally. And the reason why I started doing this, is because I nowhere found a setting or organisation that allowed me to design my work and/or life the way I felt necessary to start training people in the best way I can.
What I find great, is that you do confirm me that it is good to go your own way. Thanks again to Dave Cerpentier, who told me about the KSI-way while talking about daoism, tai chi and Traditional Chinese Medicines (I am a TCM-student).
I fully agree with Paul, who wrote here that he could listen en read again and again and again these messages.
Appreciate hearing you describe the uniqueness of what we offer – the empowering of you to be the best you are driven to become! Pleasure having you involved and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
“Autonomy is having choice in life, being able to design your life, live it the way you want to. Autonomy means choosing if you work, when you work, whom you work with, where you work and how much you work is your choice. –Ian King”
I know when you speak of autonomy to be true(as there has been glimpes only in my lifetime) . i know i will have challenges to break my habits that have kept me non autonomous(if thats such a word). exciting and yet feeling a sense of fear to letting go of old beliefs and habits. thank you ian for explaining this as i know its up to me to take the steps.
our own values and beliefs are more the reason we do not change that say lack of information or opportunity. Which is why personal development is critical. As Jim says ‘Work harder on yourself than you do on your job’. It’s rare to find self-development receive the priority in education as we give it at KSI. I was fortuante to undergo incredible personal development with Brad Sugars in live 500 attenee 5 day camps in the 1990s ending up running his logistics team and being his direct PA during the event. Very demanding however to provide PD, as it is hard work to change. Have to feel sorry for the average punter in our ‘professiona’ who has no real direction about the value of PD. For example, here is how the NSCA of the USA defines PD:
Keep yourself up-to-date on strength and conditioning knowledge and industry research
What Qualifies | Any activity undertaken to stay current with your NSCA certification that does not fit into another category.
Receive 0.5 CEUs for completing at least 5 hours of activities. Examples of approved activities include:
Reading journals, magazines, and books
Listening to podcasts that are related to your certification
Participating in self-improvement seminars
Completing home studies that are not pre-approved
Note:
Only continuing education content that directly relates to the scope of practice and detailed content outline (DCO) of an NSCA certification exam will be accepted.
0.5 CEUs per year are the maximum amount of CEUs available for this activity (1.5 CEUs allowed for 3 year cycle)
If audited, you would need to provide a statement of the nature of activities completed.

The key word here for me was – Only continuing education content that directly relates to the scope of practice and detailed content outline (DCO) of an NSCA certification exam will be accepted.
The average person following this will not embrace the level of PD needed to change. Which is good for ogranizations such as the NSCA because if they did, they may no longer view the organization with the level of respect they currently do, and that’s not good for the bottom line…

This unit is incredible as it hits the nail on the head in every way I’ll be rereading registering again and again !!!
Great to hear Paul! You are showing the qualities of a great student!

That sums it up right there.
This was a huge help. Never looked at it from that standpoint. This will help me in my young career and to grow immensely.
Great to hear of the positive impact Michael, appreciate!
